Baseball Recap: Tara Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Tara can now relate to. They took a 14-11 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Frederick A. Douglass Bobcats on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Trojans have lost by exactly three runs.

Kelvin Lucas put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and seven unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Montrell McDaniel made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in two of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Andrew Francis, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Tara is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-8. As for Frederick A. Douglass, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
