Basketball Recap: Wallace Takes a Loss

Wallace was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by the Paxton Tigers and fell 55-23. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 60-43 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Paxton was led to victory by Jakcee Mitchell and Emmalee Nicholson. Mitchell went 6 of 11 on her way to 13 points and seven boards, while Nicholson dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Nicholson has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jordan Clouse, who posted five points and four steals.

Wallace's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Paxton, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Wallace Wildcats challenge the Dundy County-Stratton Tigers at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Paxton has already played their next contest (against Hitchcock County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
