Preview: Wendover Wildcats vs. Piute Thunderbirds

Wendover is on a eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Piute is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Wendover Wildcats will take on the Piute Thunderbirds at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Utah (Wendover is ranked 60th, while Piute is ranked 63rd).

Last Saturday, Wendover came up short against Tabiona and fell 55-43.

Despite their loss, Wendover saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Tre Tangaro, who scored 13 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Efren Delmuro, who scored ten points.

Meanwhile, even though North Sevier scored an imposing 58 points last Thursday, Piute still came out on top. Piute took their game against North Sevier 66-58.

Wendover's defeat dropped their record down to 16-3. As for Piute, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Wendover, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 55-39 loss to Piute in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Will Wendover have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
