Baseball Game Preview: Little Village Phoenix vs. Kennedy Crusaders

Little Village hasn't had much luck against Kennedy recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Phoenix will be playing at home against the Crusaders at 4:30 p.m.

Little Village came up short against Hubbard on Monday, falling 12-2. The Phoenix have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Kennedy came tearing into Monday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Eagles.

Jaycob Solorio was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other pitching news, Issac Quintanilla looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Luke Zavala, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Kennedy's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-7. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Little Village, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
