Baseball Recap: Creighton Prep Junior Jays vs. Lincoln East Spartans
Creighton Prep had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 16-15 to make it four. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lincoln East Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-9 back in April.
As for Lincoln East, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 18 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games.
For Lincoln East's part, Kalai Larsen made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Larsen has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.
In other pitching news, Jack Ohler looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
