Baseball Recap: Williamsport Wins Going Away Against Jersey Shore

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Williamsport and Jersey Shore had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Millionaires were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Bulldogs on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Millionaires in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.

Ryan Schur looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Christian Franzen and Deshaun White did most of the damage at the plate: Franzen got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one double, while White went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave White a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Camden March, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Williamsport's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Jersey Shore, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-10.

Looking ahead, Williamsport will take on Loyalsock Township in a tournament on Friday. As for Jersey Shore, they will challenge Midd-West at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
