Softball Recap: Ashland Comes Up Short

If Ashland was riding high fresh off their 16-4 takedown of Washburn on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hornets lost 18-8 to the Fort Fairfield Tigers on Monday. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Ashland's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Fort Fairfield, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Looking ahead, Ashland will welcome Hodgdon at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Fort Fairfield, they are taking a road trip to square off against Madawaska at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Owls have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.8 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
