Recap: Wilson Prep Tigers vs. Warren County Eagles
The Wilson Prep Tigers never got on the board in their matchup last Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against the Warren County Eagles on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 62-41 margin over the Eagles. Wilson Prep pushed the score to 49-27 by the end of the third, a deficit Warren County cut but never quite recovered from.
Nakiya Boston was her usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jessica Atkinson, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mariah Harris, who scored 14 points. That was a full 34.1% of Warren County's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chaliyah Richardson, who scored ten points.
Wilson Prep's victory bumped their record up to 5-15. As for Warren County, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
Wilson Prep won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Weldon at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Weldon will be up against Wilson Prep's rather soft defense (which has allowed 54.94 points per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive showing. As for Warren County, they will head out on the road to face off against Wilson Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Warren County is coming into the game with four straight defeats on the road, meaning Wilson Prep will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory.
