Softball Recap: Galena Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Spanish Springs

Galena faced Spanish Springs in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Grizzlies lost 12-2 to the Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, with their most recent defeat being a 11-8 loss on Saturday.

Brea Angle was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed over her last three matchups. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Angle wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kalia Kaululaau, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Kaululaau also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

Galena dropped their record down to 7-15-1 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Spanish Springs, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-7-1.
