Softball Recap: Bloomington North Comes Up Short

Bloomington North extended their losing streak to eight on Friday, dropping their season record down to 4-10 in the process. They lost 10-2 to the Bedford North Lawrence Stars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 11-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Bedford North Lawrence, they pushed their record up to 16-8 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games.

For Bedford North Lawrence's part, the team relied heavily on Ava Ratliff, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Ratliff has posted over her last 12 contests. Another player making a difference was Bella Warren, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bloomington North will venture away from home to square off against Southport at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bedford North Lawrence, they will head out to face off against Seymour at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Owls' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Stars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
