Basketball Recap: Austin Long's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Vassar over Cass City

Vassar was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They took a 56-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cass City Red Hawks. The game was a 23-23 toss-up at halftime, but the Vulcans couldn't quite close it out.

Several Vulcans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Austin Long, who posted 12 points. Long is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 40% in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Bryce Brown, who scored ten points and five boards.

Vassar's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Cass City, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vassar will take on Unionville-Sebewaing at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Vassar is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season. As for Cass City, they will face off against Caro at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
