Baseball Game Preview: Hardin Northern Polar Bears vs. Cory-Rawson Fighting Hornets

The Hardin Northern Polar Bears are taking a road trip to challenge the Cory-Rawson Fighting Hornets at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hardin Northern knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Cory-Rawson likes a good challenge.

On Tuesday, Hardin Northern got the win against Upper Scioto Valley by a conclusive 13-1. The Polar Bears haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Cory-Rawson lost 15-3 to McComb on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Fighting Hornets in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost five in a row.

Lane Banner made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double. Another player making a difference was Mason Hall, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Hardin Northern's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for Cory-Rawson, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Hardin Northern beat Cory-Rawson 5-2 when the teams last played two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Polar Bears since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
