Soccer Game Preview: Cody vs. Powell

The Cody Broncs will challenge the Powell Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cody will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.

Cody is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Wyoming's top teams: Mountain View, who was ranked 12th at the time (Cody was ranked fifth). The Broncs' defense stepped up to hand the Buffalos a 5-0 shutout on Saturday. Considering Cody have won ten matches by more than two goals this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Mountain View with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Carter Gail (2), Diego Morales (2), and Zane Balyo.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Powell's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Lyman by a score of 1-0.

Cody's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those six contests. As for Powell, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

Everything went Cody's way against Powell when the teams last played back in April, as Cody made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Broncs repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
