Softball Recap: Oceanside Drops Season-High Score on Canyon Crest Academy

Oceanside had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 5-10 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Canyon Crest Academy Ravens 12-11. The Pirates' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Oceanside got a massive performance out of Anaiah Filo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Seaven Fuimaono, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Oceanside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.2.

As for Canyon Crest Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-8-1. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games.

On Canyon Crest Academy's side, Alexis McNamee was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Sophie Kearse was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
