Basketball Recap: Erie Piles Up the Points Against Silver Creek

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Erie). They really took it to the Silver Creek Raptors for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-18 win. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while the Raptors are ranked 157th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Erie to victory were Sophie Husk and Juliet Slater. Husk went 5 of 12 en route to 14 points and five steals, while Slater almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine steals. The dominant performance gave Slater a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Addison Greenlee, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.

Erie was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The victory (which was Erie's third in a row) raised their record to 6-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.3 points per game. As for Silver Creek, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Erie Tigers duke it out with the Cherokee Trail Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Silver Creek, they will face off against Mead at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Mead is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.3 points per game this season.
