Softball Recap: Crete-Monee Wins Going Away Against Thornton

Crete-Monee won the last time they faced Thornton and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Warriors put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 19-3 victory. The matchup marked the Warriors' most dominant win of the season so far.

Kaylee Slattery made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Crete-Monee got a massive performance out of Debra Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Wilson a new career-high. Ariana Kovacs was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Crete-Monee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .818. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Crete-Monee and bumps their season record up to 3-8. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.5 runs over those games. As for Thornton, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Crete-Monee will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
