Softball Recap: Taft Has No Trouble Against Elk Grove

Taft had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Elk Grove on Saturday. The Eagles blew past the Grenadiers 12-1. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 13 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Haley Eccarius was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Victoria Perez, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Taft kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 13-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Taft's record now sits at 20-13. As for Elk Grove, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season.

Taft will be playing at home against Juarez at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Taft's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Juarez has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Elk Grove, they will host Fenton at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
