Basketball Recap: Greyson Buse Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Heritage Hills

With a playoff win on the line, Mt. Vernon rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Heritage Hills Patriots by a score of 55-46. The game was the first time the Wildcats have beaten the Patriots on their court since March 3, 2017.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mt. Vernon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Greyson Buse, who went 5-for-6 to rack up 19 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Buse a new career-high in shooting accuracy (83%). Meyer Robb was another key player, putting up eight points and six steals.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jake Prior, who posted nine points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Hunter Meredith, who earned eight points.

Mt. Vernon now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Heritage Hills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-9.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Mt. Vernon Wildcats duke it out with Evansville Memorial Tigers at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Vernon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.6 points per game this season. Heritage Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
