Taylor Tollestrup was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last 25 games she's played. Sara Moffett was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Churchill County faced Fernley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Greenwave came out on top against the Vaqueros by a score of 6-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Greenwave, who have now won three contests in a row.
Janessa Bettencourt made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). Bettencourt was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddison Keller, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Fernley is on a roll lately: they've won 21 of their last 26 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 30-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Churchill County, their victory bumped their record up to 23-11.
Saturday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Fernley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .473. However, it's not like Churchill County struggles in that department as they've averaged .440. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
