Softball Recap: Greendale's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Greendale dropped their record down to 14-9 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Kenosha Tremper Trojans by a score of 5-4. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Ayla Krecklow spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits.

On the hitting side, Greendale saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Brinkman, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

As for Kenosha Tremper, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.

On Kenosha Tremper's side, Sophia Murphy made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Murphy has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ava DeBartolo was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Camille Sporer, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Looking ahead, Greendale will square off against New Berlin Eisenhower at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kenosha Tremper, they will head out on the road to face off against Franklin at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
