Softball Recap: Lorain Comes Up Short

Lorain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Shaker Heights Raiders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Titans of the 13-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Vada Blankenship and Alonna Coleman did some serious damage despite the final result: Blankenship got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run, while Coleman got on base in two of her three plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Coleman is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Lorain's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Shaker Heights, their record is now 6-4.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Lorain will square off against rival Cleveland Heights at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Shaker Heights is set to take on their familiar foe Euclid at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
