Basketball Recap: Haxtun Takes a Loss

Haxtun was the 47-33 winner over Otis when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs took a 45-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Otis Bulldogs on Tuesday.

Despite the loss, Haxtun still got an impressive performance from Bobbi Starkebaum, who went 7 of 13 en route to 18 points and six boards. Leah Edwards was another key player, putting up eight points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Haxtun smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 30 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

It was another big night for Aedyn Tribelhorn, who went 6 for 14 on her way to 17 points in addition to seven steals and five boards for Otis. Tribelhorn has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelyn Willeke, who posted 14 points and seven rebounds.

Haxtun's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Otis, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Haxtun has already played their next game, a 56-20 victory against Peetz on the 17th. As for Otis, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-35 loss against Idalia on the 17th.
