Softball Game Preview: Taft Toreadors vs. Rio Hondo Prep Kares

The Taft Toreadors are taking a road trip to challenge the Rio Hondo Prep Kares at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Taft will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Taft is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They came out on top against Marquez by a score of 8-3.

Chiara Cioffi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Taft's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Adriana Garcia, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Savannah Munoz also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 22 runs the game before, Rio Hondo Prep was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of University. The Kares' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

TARA RILEY was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of JANNA TAFLINGER, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Taft's victory bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Rio Hondo Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 20-6.
