Basketball Game Preview: Coleman Cougars vs. Oconto Falls Panthers

The Coleman Cougars will head out to take on the Oconto Falls Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Tuesday, Coleman didn't have quite enough to beat Oneida Nation and fell 49-46.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Oconto Falls' good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a blow against Freedom, falling 100-53. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Irish are ranked tenth).

Coleman will need to focus on slowing down Jameson Beaman, one of several Oconto Falls players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 13 points. Brady Bursa was another key player, putting up eight points and five assists.

Oconto Falls' defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Coleman, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.

Coleman ended up a good deal behind Oconto Falls in their previous matchup back in January of 2025, losing 68-50. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Beaman, who went 8-for-15 from beyond the arc to rack up 41 points and eight boards.
