Baseball Recap: Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences Takes a Loss

Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 12-19 to make it six. They came up short against the Silverdale Academy Seahawks, falling 17-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

As for Silverdale Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games.

For Silverdale Academy's part, Drake Dills and Jonathan Hasty made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Dills tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Hasty pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Dills posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since April 4th. At the plate, Dills went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Hasty went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That home run was Hasty's first of the season.

In other batting news, Tanner Bayne was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Gavin Brock was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences will face off against Brainerd at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Silverdale Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
