Softball Recap: Bloomington Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Bloomington can bid farewell to their ten-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Urbana Tigers. The Purple Raiders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Mady McComas tossed a big game, not allowing a single hit and allowing only one earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2025.

At the plate, Lauren Shuey and Journiee Cross did most of the damage at the plate: Shuey went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and three runs, while Cross went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. Those three runs gave Shuey a new career-high. Addie Irwin also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

The win was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 2-10. As for Urbana, they moved to 3-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Bloomington has already played their next game, a 15-1 loss against Peoria Notre Dame on the 16th. As for Urbana, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 13-0 defeat against Cerro Gordo/Bement on the 15th.
