Baseball Recap: Lighthouse Christian Extends Winning Streak to Five

Lighthouse Christian waltzed into their game on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Mountain Grove Panthers. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

Lighthouse Christian got a great performance from Kyle Etem as he struck out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those ten strikeouts gave Etem a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Josh Elam, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Richards, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Lighthouse Christian pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain Grove, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lighthouse Christian will take on Halfway at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mountain Grove, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Thayer at 4:30 p.m.
