West Albany came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Silverton, falling 14-6. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Foxes recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
West Albany saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amelia Kidd 2026, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run. Jasmyn Vidal also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Meanwhile, Corvallis fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against South Albany on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 20-16 to the Redhawks. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (11), the Spartans still had to take the loss.
Parker Doerr led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Olivia Richardson was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Corvallis has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-21 record this season. As for West Albany, their loss dropped their record down to 9-14.
Corvallis' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. West Albany has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Corvallis, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.5 strikeouts. Will West Albany keep running through batters, or will the Spartans buck the trend?
