Soccer Game Preview: Wheeling Park vs. Musselman

The Wheeling Park Patriots will challenge the Musselman Applemen at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Wheeling Park sitting on 13 straight victories and Musselman on three.

Wheeling Park is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 6-1 margin over Jefferson. Considering Wheeling Park have won 11 matchups by more than two goals this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Ike Aderholt and Wilson Hanna scored all six of Wheeling Park's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 35 goals.

Meanwhile, Musselman faced Martinsburg in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Applemen who were credited with the win. Musselman got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Martinsburg's four. Even though Musselman got in a bit of trouble with the refs ( Derrick Goodwin was handed a red card), the team managed to overcome the adversity.

Wheeling Park's victory bumped their record up to 17-3. As for Musselman, their win bumped their record up to 12-3-4.
