Basketball Recap: Avondale Picks Up Ninth Straight Win at Home

Avondale made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Lutheran Northwest, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Avondale Yellowjackets were the clear victor by a 57-31 margin over the Lutheran Northwest Crusaders on Thursday. The Yellowjackets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 26 points or more this season.

Avondale's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Morgan Mcpherson, who shot 50% from the field on her way to 21 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Mcpherson's big performance that evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Sasha McClellan, who posted eight points along with nine boards and eight assists.

Avondale smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Avondale pushed their record up to 18-4 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.6 points on average over those games. As for Lutheran Northwest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-7.
