Softball Recap: Dougherty Valley Wildcats vs. Dublin Gaels

Dougherty Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They lost 12-1 to the Dublin Gaels. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Dougherty Valley of the 9-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March.

Dougherty Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katie Osborn, who went 1-for-3 with a home run. Osborn has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive pitching appearances.

On Dublin's side, AJ Avelar was incredible, going 2-for-4 with a home run, five RBI, and a double. Another player making a difference was Sydney Costello, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Dougherty Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Dublin, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7-1 record this season.
