Basketball Game Preview: Triton Hawks vs. Terry Sanford Bulldogs

The Triton Hawks will venture away from home to challenge the Terry Sanford Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Triton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Terry Sanford likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Triton came up short against E.E. Smith and fell 67-55. While the Hawks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Golden Bulls 16-11 in the first quarter.

Triton might have lost, but man, Ro'Mello Pegues was a machine: he went 7 for 16 on his way to 25 points. Pegues' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jamaury Taylor was another key player, going 6 of 10 en route to 14 points.

Meanwhile, Terry Sanford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 71-59 to Fayetteville Academy. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while the Eagles are ranked 111th).

Terry Sanford's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Triton, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.

Triton was able to grind out a solid win over Terry Sanford when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 72-60. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Terry Sanford's Mason Walker, who shot 4-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards.
