Soccer Game Preview: Murphy vs. Theodore

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Murphy take on Theodore at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Murphy fell victim to Saraland and their airtight defense on Thursday. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 1-0. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Spartans: they've now lost seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Theodore was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 10-0 to St. Paul's Episcopal. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while the Saints are ranked 49th).

Murphy's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Theodore, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8-1.

Murphy came out on top in a nail-biter against Theodore when the teams last played on Tuesday, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Murphy since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
