Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Avery Bork and Adelyn Van Sickle Lead Huron to Victory

Huron proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by three) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Hilliard Davidson Wildcats. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.

Huron was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-12, 18-25, 25-19, 15-11.

Leading Huron to victory were Adelyn Van Sickle and Avery Bork. Van Sickle had 28 digs and two aces, while Bork had 14 digs and seven aces. That's the most digs Van Sickle has posted since back in September.

They weren't the only good servers: Huron was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in five consecutive matches.

Hilliard Davidson's loss came despite strong showings from Maggie Ray and Lydia Dougherty. Ray had 21 assists and three digs, while Dougherty had ten digs and two aces.

Huron's record now sits at 14-5. As for Hilliard Davidson, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-18.

Huron has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Margaretta on the 7th. As for Hilliard Davidson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Olentangy Liberty on the 7th.
