Softball Recap: Covenant Christian Comes Up Short

Covenant Christian had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 9-8 to make it five. They came up short against the Lebanon Tigers, falling 11-2. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Warriors couldn't push the score so high this time.

Covenant Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braylin Boruff, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Lebanon, their record now sits at 10-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

On Lebanon's side, Krryn Miller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Miller has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miley Wilhoite, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Ali Bir, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Covenant Christian is on the road again on Saturday to play Herron at 12:00 p.m. The Warriors' pitcher better be ready for this one: the Achaeans have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Lebanon, they have the luxury of staying home for another game and will welcome Warren Central at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Tigers are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
