Volleyball Game Preview: Maine East Blue Demons vs. Mundelein Mustangs

The Maine East Blue Demons will take on the Mundelein Mustangs in a tournament on Saturday. Maine East is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

Maine East will bounce into Saturday's contest after beating Vernon Hills, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Blue Demons skirted past the Cougars 2-1.

Maine East had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-19, 25-13.

Meanwhile, Mundelein earned a 2-0 win over Antioch on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Mundelein took both sets by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-15.

Mundelein's record now sits at 22-3. As for Maine East, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-10.

Maine East couldn't quite get it done against Mundelein in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Blue Demons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
