Baseball Recap: Antioch Christian Academy Wins Going Away Against Mintz Christian Academy

Antioch Christian Academy won the last time they faced Mintz Christian Academy and things went their way on Friday too. The Gators were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Lions. The result was nothing new for the Gators, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Carson Phillips and Josiah Jones made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Phillips didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Jones tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Phillips went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Jones went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Phillips is becoming a predictor of Antioch Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joshua Brooks, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Jack Combs also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Antioch Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mintz Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
