Baseball Recap: St. Frances Academy's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

St. Frances Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Chapelgate Christian Academy on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Yellowjackets by a score of 5-4. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellowjackets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Julian Mercer led a balanced group of hitters, scoring a run and stealing four bases. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. Joseph Cooper was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

St. Frances Academy's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-2. As for Chapelgate Christian Academy, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Frances Academy will welcome Park School at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Chapelgate Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Friends at 4:00 p.m. on the 17th.
