Basketball Game Preview: San Rafael Bulldogs vs. Piner Prospectors

San Rafael is 0-4 against Piner since November of 2018 but things could change on Monday. The San Rafael Bulldogs will take on the Piner Prospectors in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. San Rafael knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 contests -- so hopefully Piner likes a good challenge.

While San Rafael didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They breezed by Healdsburg to the tune of 83-42 on Saturday. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Piner strolled past Analy with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 56-41. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Prospectors.

Piner pushed their record up to 6-4 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for San Rafael, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.

San Rafael couldn't quite finish off Piner in their previous meeting back in November of 2023 and fell 66-63. Can San Rafael avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
