The Morning Star Academy Mustangs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They put the hurt on Galesburg Christian with a sharp 61-37 victory. That 61-37 margin sets a new team best for Morning Star Academy this season.
Morning Star Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kellen Axtman led the charge by scoring 20 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Axtman scored 15 or more points. Gavin Trotter was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Morning Star Academy now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Galesburg Christian, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morning Star Academy will take on Quad Cities Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Quad Cities Christian will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for Galesburg Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Faith Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Faith Christian will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
