Softball Recap: Alcester-Hudson Starts Season with Victory Against Beresford

Alcester-Hudson had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Beresford Watchdogs a 10-0 shutout on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Cubs in their matchups with the Watchdogs: they've now won four in a row.

Emma Moller made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. Moller was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Delta Pies was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-3. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Emma Solberg was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

Alcester-Hudson will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bon Homme at 4:30 p.m. on April 17. As for Beresford, they will be playing at home against Flandreau at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The contest will give Beresford their first taste of in-conference action this season.
