Elida hasn't had much luck against Logan recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Tigers will square off against the Longhorns at 3:00 p.m. Elida has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Elida lost 13-6 to Gateway Christian on Thursday. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Coda Cathey was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
Logan came out on top against Grady on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Longhorns blew past the Bronchos 12-2. The Longhorns might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.
Kale Griffiths made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Griffiths was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Aydin Kotara and Devin Kotara did most of the damage at the plate: Aydin went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs, while Devin got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those four RBI gave Devin a new career-high. Mason Wallin was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Logan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
The win made it two in a row for Logan and bumps their season record up to 10-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Elida, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Elida has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .443. However, it's not like Logan struggles in that department as they've averaged .494. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Elida suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Logan in their previous meeting back in May of 2022. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
