Basketball Recap: Silverdale Academy Piles Up the Points Against Girls Prep

The third road match was the charm for Silverdale Academy, as they earned their first road win of the season. They breezed by the Girls Prep Bruisers to the tune of 73-32 on Saturday. The Seahawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 22 points or more this season.

Silverdale Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kinsley Owen out in front who almost dropped a triple-double on 17 points, nine rebounds, and 12 assists. Owen is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ella Canter, who went 7 of 13 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points.

The win got Silverdale Academy back to even at 8-8. As for Girls Prep, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Silverdale Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-39 victory against Walker Valley on the 30th. As for Girls Prep, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
