Football Recap: Riverside Comes Up Short on the Road Against Ansonia

Riverside had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were outmatched by the Ansonia Tigers and fell 36-6. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 414th, while the Tigers are ranked 141st).

Gunner Carpenter and Dylan Trimble certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Carpenter rushed for 63 yards and one TD, while Trimble rushed for 66 yards on only six carries. Trimble's longest rush was for an impressive 58 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Looking ahead, Riverside will host Northeastern at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ansonia, they will head out to face off against Preble Shawnee at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Tigers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
