Basketball Recap: Moreno Valley's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

If Moreno Valley was riding high fresh off their 63-26 takedown of Paloma Valley last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Moreno Valley Vikings took a 61-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the JW North Huskies on Thursday. The Vikings' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Moreno Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alijah Maloid, who posted 19 points. The dominant performance gave Maloid a new career-high in points. Jamall Thompson was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Moreno Valley's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4. As for JW North, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Moreno Valley and Brawley will round out the year against one another at at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. Moreno Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.5 points per game this season. As for JW North, they will square off against Ponderosa at 8:00 p.m. on December 26th.
