Football Game Preview: Newkirk vs. Perry

On Thursday Perry take on Newkirk at Newkirk - Football Stadium at 7:00 PM. If the game is anything like the 58-36 finish from the last time they met, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy.

It was all tied up at the half for Perry and Alva last Friday, but Perry stepped up in the second half. Perry won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Alva 20-19. Junior Mason Drake, who passed for 175 yards and 3 touchdowns, was a major factor in Perry's success. If you haven't heard Drake's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in their past three games.

Meanwhile, Newkirk got themselves on the board against Oklahoma Centennial, but Oklahoma Centennial never followed suit. Newkirk took their contest against Oklahoma Centennial by a conclusive 32-0 score. Followers of Newkirk probably expected little less of the squad in a season in which they have collected three blowout victories.

Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 4-2. We'll see which team can carry over their success and which team inevitably falls when Perry and Newkirk clash.
