Recap: Grain Valley Eagles vs. Webb City Cardinals
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Grain Valley Eagles, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. The contest between Grain Valley and Webb City wasn't particularly close, with Grain Valley falling 49-35. Grain Valley's loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.
Webb City found their leader in underclassman Gabe Johnson, who rushed for 288 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 16.9 yards per carry, and also threw for 85 yards and a touchdown on only eight passes. Johnson's longest rush was for an incredible 90 yards. Omari Jackson was in the mix as well, providing Webb City with two touchdowns.
Grain Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Webb City, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Grain Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Webb City will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Republic. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Missouri (Republic is ranked 12th, while Webb City is ranked ninth).
