Baseball Game Preview: Florence Eagles vs. East Central Hornets

For the second straight game, Florence will face off against East Central. The Eagles will head out to challenge the Hornets at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Florence will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Florence is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They had just enough and edged out East Central 5-4.

Rod Davis Jr. made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two doubles.

In other batting news, Bryan Davis and Hayden Boykin did most of the damage at the plate: Davis got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run, while Boykin went 3-for-4 with one stolen base. Davis has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Florence pushed their record up to 21-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for East Central, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-14.
