Softball Game Preview: Robbinsville Ravens vs. Jackson Memorial Jaguars

The Robbinsville Ravens will venture away from home to face off against the Jackson Memorial Jaguars at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Robbinsville will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Thursday, Robbinsville earned a 5-1 win over Princeton.

Lexi Lopez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jules Amoroso was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double. Another player making a difference was Lucie Canuso, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Robbinsville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Jackson Memorial ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Marlboro 6-4.

Jackson Memorial is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Robbinsville, they pushed their record up to 17-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Everything went Robbinsville's way against Jackson Memorial when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Robbinsville made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Ravens since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
