Basketball Recap: Fort Calhoun Extends Winning Streak to Four

Fort Calhoun entered their tilt with Concordia on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They secured a 46-42 W over the Concordia Mustangs. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Pioneers also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Fort Calhoun got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ansley Elofson out in front who went 6 of 12 en route to 15 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Maelie Nelson was another key player, putting up five points and five steals.

Fort Calhoun smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Despite the defeat, Concordia saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Grace Samuelson almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards. Samuelson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Lichtenberger, who posted seven points.

Fort Calhoun's record is now 12-3. As for Concordia, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

Fort Calhoun didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-31 victory against Syracuse on the 28th. As for Concordia, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 67-20 loss against Lincoln Christian on the 23rd.
